About London International Tutors

We are a small, family-run tutoring company, who have been helping students with all areas of their studies since October 2009. We like to build close working relationships with our families, tutors, and students alike, so that we are able to offer the best help and guidance to all those involved – every step of the way.

We are contactable all year round and are happy to take your call / email / WhatsApp at any time to see how we can help you. Whether it’s with entrance exams to some of the top UK Independent schools (such as Eton, St Paul’s, Westminster, Harrow, Kings Canterbury, Sevenoaks, Wycombe Abbey or Charterhouse to name but a few), ongoing GCSE and A level school studies, or US & UK university entrance assistance and advice - we are here to help you!

Tuition is available throughout the year (including all school holidays) either face-to-face or online.

Director - Wendy Layland

Wendy Layland is the main point of contact for parents, students and tutors. She endeavours to be available (by message, phone or email) constantly, ensuring that you are getting the most efficient service.
She works very closely with James, the company’s Educational Consultant (who is also her brother!), to decide the best course of action for each and every student.
Together, they carefully consider which of their tutors is best suited to which student. This process, they believe, is absolutely essential in being able to guide students towards achieving their academic goals.

Educational Consultant - James Layland

In 1993, James Layland graduated from Imperial College, London with a first class degree in Physics. A keen musician, he won the Sir Eric Ash Scholarship to study the flute at the Royal College of Music. He retains strong links with Imperial College and has helped numerous students gain places there (as well as at many more of the best Universities!) After several years teaching Maths and Physics at a private tutorial college in South Kensington, he attained the post of Co-Principal in 2000. Within a year he was Principal. James took the college from strength to strength in academic results, reputation, size and financial stability. James’s passion for teaching has helped change the lives of a great many students, from young children to university students to adults returning to education. Teaching Maths and Physics remains his passion and he has clocked up over 40,000 hours of tutoring. In addition, he spends a lot of time each year helping students with their applications to universities both here and in the States and has, over the years, built up a team of experts who work closely with him.

Our Tutors

Our tutors are our greatest asset. They are carefully chosen and, unlike larger tutorial companies, we know them well. Most have been with us for many years, and some have worked with James for over 20 years. In taking on a tutor, one of our main requirements is that they have a good degree from a good university. This in itself is not sufficient; they need to be friendly and reliable, with the ability to teach and to communicate well with young people.

We have about 40 tutors who work regularly with us, and our close relationship with them and our clients allows us to fine-tune our service to best suit the needs of each student.
